Sweethearts, Sticky Notes and SNL
Happy President's Day ! In honor of the day, I am posting my Valentine's Day pictures. Because I'm random like that and just like to keep everybody guessing. My little way of shaking things up on the world wide web.
The above picture is just so all of my friends can mock me. Every Valentine's Day they text me and ask where the pink heart pancake pictures are. They know I'm a freak about traditions.
Once I texted my sister-in-law Heather, who knows me too well...or so she thinks...because I said "Happy Columbus Day! We just decorated cakes shaped like the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria for centerpieces !" Heather said she was just about to text me back that I was amazing, when I texted "lol".
That's okay, loved ones. You just keep me up on that holiday tradition pedestal in your minds. I like being there, even if it is only in your imagination.
Because although today was President's Day, we did nothing to celebrate. So sorry to disappoint, but I will not be bustin' out photos of pancakes shaped like Washington's...well, bust...and instead post my pink heart pancake pictures.
And just as I was writing that, I had deja vu...because I seem to remember last year posting pictures of Valentine's Day on President's Day. So I checked, and guess what ? I did. Just one more effort at keeping tradition here !!
Best part of this Valentine's morning? My sweetheart Josiah got to join us for breakfast. Monique had to work early in the morning, so I invited him home "for old time's sake." I promised him a sticky note under his chair (Valentine's tradition, you know) if he came. How could he resist such an offer??
Jackson's note promised a trip to the dollar tree with Mama. Josiah's was "good for three home-cooked meals." I am quite sure he gets those every night, but I didn't think he'd appreciate a trip to the dollar tree anymore... so enticing him with mom's cooking was the best I could come up with.
Whoever invented heart shaped Peeps for Valentine's Day was a genius...
I need a cute caption for the following picture, but all I can come up with is "some things never change..."
And finally, the ending to our Valentine's festivities- watching an SNL skit about Mitt Romney on Josiah's phone....
And just because I don't want to disappoint the relatives, I will post something even better than pancakes shaped like Washington's bust....
Happy President's Day !!

I made Daddy pancakes shaped like Abe Lincoln's hat. Quite easy I must say. I even made one shaped like Newt's head, sort of lopesided round. JUST KIDDEN, we had eggs, Taylor's ham and raisin bread. It was neat seeing 96% of the family in those pictures. Now we need some of Jason, Naomi and Monique and of course YOU!!!
I love seeing you all together, and one of the beautiful, memorable traditions you've set for your children. Beautiful.
Patti, Thank you so much for your sweet words and for leaving that blog. I actually just became a "follower" of hers a few days ago! :) I haven't had a chance to read a ton of her posts but her most recent one on hope was incredibly encouraging! It's always good to find those strong women that lean on Jesus...so encouraging and inspiring in this dark time! Your family is beautiful!!! I dream of the day that our home is full of babies. Thanks again and have a great day!
